The Underworld Orchestra in France

Recently I found myself accompanying a band of misfits to the south of France bringing with me a 16mm projector and lots of loops.

The Underworld Orchestra lead by Alain Servant is theatrical, cabaret style show incorporating murder ballads, theatrics, physical performance and 16mm projection. It revolves around ideas and themes of Samhain, an Irish period marking the end of the harvest season and the beginning of the winter season or 'darker half' of the year.

There was a week of rehearsals at La Devignere Residency followed by two live shows. The first at The Cultural Centre Jean Moulin (CCJM) in Limoges and the second at The Association de Musique and Animation in Confolens (L'AMAC).

The group consists of Siobhán Kavanagh, John Linnane, Alain Servant, Enda Moran, Oli Ryan and myself.

It was a pleasure.
