Thanatophobia in Lituania

Thanatophobia screens as part of Baltic Analog Lab (Riga, Latvia) Program at Suspaustas Laikas '22 in Vilnius, Lithuania.

On meeting Latvian artist and filmmaker Ieva Balode in 2015, we began to shoot 16mm sporadically during the following 5 years across Latvia and Ireland. What resulted was the short film Thanatophobia recently completed and premiered as part of Ieva's solo exhibition at the Latvian National Museum of Art.

It was a highly collaborative film, that was photographed with both of us present. Processing and processing effects along with the scanning was undertaken by Ieva in Latvia. The digital picture and sound editing and final digital mastering was done by myself in Ireland with the work in progress going back and forth between us.
